Vagabond Kid: Miss Erica Latta

Hola!

My name is Erica Latta and I grew up in Red Deer, Alberta in a middle-class family of four. I am heading toward the first-quarter mark in my life and would have to say I have been pretty fortunate to experience all that I have thus far. Since leaving home after high school, a college volleyball "career" took me to Edmonton on and off for three years where we made it to the National Finals each year, bringing home the Championship in 2007. Of course I studied in college as well, but have yet to complete a degree. I have taken quite a bit of time away from post-secondary studying and competitive athletics to explore myself and the world, outside of the realm of which I had been defined for so many years, as a very well-rounded student-athlete. I thoroughly enjoyed those years and am ever-grateful for all of the amazing opportunities and people that came along because of those experiences. Though my formal education has taken a hiatus, the abundance of learning outside the classroom constantly teaches me, intrigues, challenges me, and makes me wonder!, especially when I am immersed in life outside of North America. I love to travel, to experience the different cultures, ways of living, and people that make up this beautiful and connected world. I would some day like to return to school when I feel more of a sense of purpose and drive in a particular realm of study. For the past few months, I have been living a westernized nomadic life out of a truck with a fellow vagabond kid. I suppose we have been experimenting and preparing  for the next big venture under the skies; the journey will take us down the coasts of North, Central, and South America in that comfy and quaint truck/camper named Midnight Purple. With open hearts and minds, Mateo as Pilot and I as Co-Pilot, our intention of living and appreciating a lifestyle of humbleness and simplicity is the foundation. I am stoked to begin speaking Espanol again, rather than English and to incorporate the ways of living of the people we meet while on the road. Documenting my travels through writing and photography has always been a hobby of mine. I look forward to delving into this more and building upon my 'craft' as I begin this next chapter as a rookie blogger. I hope you enjoy our journeys through our eyes, stories, and life!! Salud!
